GOTS chemical input approval

GOTS covers the processing of certified organic fibres. Chemical inputs used in wet processing, including textile auxiliaries, must be assessed and approved by a GOTS-approved certification body with Scope 4 accreditation before use in GOTS goods.

For chemical buyers, this means approval is attached to a specific trade-name formulation and its assessment. GOTS evaluates inputs against chemical, environmental, and toxicological criteria as part of that approval process.

ZDHC Roadmap to Zero

ZDHC MRSL conformity

The ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List addresses chemicals banned from intentional use in textile, apparel, leather, and footwear wet processing. Conforming formulations are reviewed against the applicable MRSL requirements.

ZDHC does not itself certify chemical products. ZDHC-approved MRSL certifiers verify formulations, while the Gateway Chemical Module and ChemCheck reports communicate product-level conformity information. Levels 1, 2, and 3 indicate increasing depth of supporting information and formulator assessment.
